Public wifi networks are often unsecured and can be intercepted by cybercriminals. Public wifi networks can be those in cafes, airports, hotels, or malls. While often convenient, it is not without risk. Take precautions when using public wifi.

Connect only to trusted networks and avoid using free wifi networks.

Use a reputable VPN for the entire session when you connect to public wifi.

Remember that when connected to public wifi your sensitive information is at risk. Avoid logging into banking or accessing confidential information.

Ensure the websites you visit have a secure connection (websites that use HTTPS)

Use hotspot

Consider using your mobile data or hotspot.

If you are using your phone as a hotspot:

  • Set a strong password
  • Use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption
  • Turn the hotspot off when not in use
