The Papua New Guinea National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) began as a jointly funded initiative by the PNG and Australian governments in 2018 to support the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings and was later established through the Digital Government Act 2022 to coordinate all efforts of national cyber security.
The Papua New Guinea National Cyber Security Centre is administratively under the Department of Information & Communications Technology (DICT) and is the technical authority on cyber security.
The NCSC functions to promote a secure, cyber resilient digital government environment with services that include:
- Publishing alerts, technical guidance and advice, advisories and notifications on cyber security threats
- Cyber threat monitoring across Papua New Guinea government networks, endpoints and assets
- Technical advice and assistance to Papua New Guinea government departments and agencies to help respond and defend against cyber security incidents
- Collaborating with other Papua New Guinea government departments and agencies on cyber security issues
- Deploying security measures to protect Papua New Guinea government systems and data from cyber security incidents.
